Pandora is a variation of Pandora's Box. This lamp design uses a simple finish and fit to represent the purity of human curiosity. Each mouth has a locking mechanism to keep the shape of the lamp. Opening or closing the cavities would release tension, but is visible when transforming between each state.
When the mouths of the lamp are closed, it keeps the light diffused within the shade. Each mouth contains a locking mechanism to keep the shape of the lamp. Opening or closing the cavities would release tension, but is visible when transforming between each state. Opening a cavity will allow light to reflect onto the inner reflective tint, directing it out as a directional light.
VOTO began with a simple question, "Could there be value in the space between photo and video?" To successfully develop this new medium, we had to understand both photo and video. We had to figure out the meaning behind photographs and videos as well as how users relate to them on a practical and emotional level. The VOTO concept is based on a metaphor, which is to grant power of control over recorded time and space. With our product, we give our users the ability to control time itself by allowing them to interact with a photograph to navigate through a brief moment in time before and after the point of capture. VOTO creates a form of embodiment that can physically connect the user with meaningful digital content to build more powerful emotional connections with captured memories.

Mavericks, Rebels, Rivals, Contrary, Antithesis, Non-Conformist. TEDxSFU 2012 explores the theme, "Against the Grain".
The idea for the theme Against the Grain came from the proverb "See no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil". By turning this into a positive principle, I wanted to give the message to people not to turn a blind eye to the situations around us. To see the world through a different lens allows us to do things out of the ordinary and construct real results that can change the world.
An animation short project based on The Raven poem by Edgar Allan Poe. I worked on the modeling of the raven and rigging/skinning of both characters using Maya. The movie was compiled in Final Cut Pro along with the music in the video.
The Perfect Fit is a pair of self-tightening and self-loosening shoes that can integrate seamlessly into our everyday lives, while improving the comfort and performance of our movements. The shoe understands the intentions of the wearer by responding to a variety of human kinesthetic motions and automatically adjusting tightness accordingly.
Through studying the way people walk and run, we implemented a set of different modes to the shoe. It first begins with a user putting on the shoe. As they stand in the shoe, pressure would be applied; thus, tightening the shoe. When walking, the shoe will tighten further so that the shoe will be tight enough to walk in. This effectively reduces risks for ankle injuries, which is commonly caused by loose fitting shoes. Finally, when the user is running, the shoe would be at its tightest to offer the best performance. When the shoe is to be removed, a simple gesture of crossing the leg and tilting the foot would loosen the laces, so that it can be taken off with ease.
Project Barca starts with an idea that is today taken for granted but which was quite revolutionary in 15th century Europe; that the world is round and by sailing west one would eventually arrive in 'the East'. Conceptually, philosophically, and politically, going West to find East raises a host of questions, not least about the human urge to adventure, to discover, to take possession of, and to colonise what we find in our paths. It also raises questions about the unanticipated and sometimes unintended results of these adventures, discoveries, and colonizations of various new territories; physical, psychological, and otherwise.
I conceptualized three logos for Barca. The objective was to design a graphic and/or wordmark that captures the complex set of ideas embedded in the phrase - Going 'West' to find the 'East'.
The objective of this project was to create graphically visual representations of information from books and other reading materials. I identified areas that overlapped and synthesized the information to communicate what was important in a graphically interesting way.
Through this project, there was a realization that the knowledge of culture, demographics, and management were the stepping stones toward the process of innovation. Once the three concepts of knowledge were combined, incorporated in to an idea, and accepted from a culture (audience), then would it be considered innovation. However, it is up to our perception to decide whether or not technological advancements are considered innovation.

The particiatory workshops are a tool that can be used in multiple stages of the design process. It can be used as a data-gathering tool in the early stages in order to acquire specific information about a situation and users. It can also be used during ideation and prototyping stages to allow designers to get users involved in the ideation as well as to test out ideas and designs on the audience. In all cases the workshops are yet another way of building understanding and context between the designer and the users/stakeholders that she/he designs for.
